  • Not for dispensing. Do not use it to fill, ring up or hand out prescriptions.
  • No patient health information. It does not store or process PHI, and we make no HIPAA claim.
  • No pharmacy-system link yet. A PMS integration is planned, not built.
  • FSA/HSA is planned, through certified processors only.
  • Front-store retail works today on the core POS.

1What it is and what it is for

What an independent pharmacy POS should do, and what this one does today

A pharmacy POS rings up two very different counters: the front store (OTC, health and beauty, gifts) and the Rx counter (pickup, signature, counselling, FSA/HSA). GetPharmacyPOS covers the front store today and plans the Rx counter.

The pharmacy edition is built on a hosted POS that already runs retail stores in the USA, the UAE and Pakistan. Everything a front store needs is there: barcoded products with variations, lot numbers and expiry dates, reward points and gift cards, stock across several locations, and an online store generated from your catalogue. What is missing is everything that touches a prescription. We say so here, on every page and in the header, because a pharmacist should never have to guess.

Definition · front store
The retail side of a pharmacy: over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, health and beauty, first aid, greeting cards and gifts. It is sold like any shop, without a prescription, and it is the part this POS handles today.

2Before you use it

What you need to know before you trust any POS at your counter

Use it for front-store retail only. Keep prescriptions, patient data and FSA/HSA substantiation on your pharmacy system until each planned feature ships and you have checked it.

3Works today

What works today at the front counter

Four front-store jobs run on the core POS now: selling OTC and beauty lines, managing lots and expiry, checkout with loyalty and gift cards, and an online store built from your catalogue.

30-day front-store trial on the core POS. The sign-up link opens when the hosted app goes live.

4On the bench

What is planned for the Rx counter

Three Rx-counter features are planned: a pickup queue, signature capture at the counter, and FSA/HSA acceptance through certified processors. None of them is available today.

6How to use it

How to set up the front store in five steps

Sign up, add your location, import products, let the online store generate, then open the register. The sign-up and location steps take about 15 minutes together; import time depends on your catalogue.

  1. Step 1 Create your account and business about 3 min

Enter your pharmacy name, currency and time zone. No install: it runs in the browser on the owner's hosted platform.

  2. Step 2 Add your location and registers about 5 min

Set the store address, tax rates (sales tax, UAE VAT or Pakistan sales tax), receipt layout and the registers at the counter. Add staff with their own roles.

  3. Step 3 Import your front-store catalogue about 20 min, for a CSV of a few hundred items

Upload a CSV of OTC, health and beauty and gift items with barcodes, prices, lot numbers and expiry dates, or add them one by one. Print shelf and barcode labels.

  4. Step 4 Your online store is generated about 2 min

As soon as products exist, an online store is built from the catalogue: products, prices, photos and stock. OTC and retail only — never prescriptions.

  5. Step 5 Open the register and sell about 5 min

Connect a receipt printer and scanner, open the cash register and take the first sale. The Rx steps join this flow only when the planned features ship.

11Questions you may have

Questions independent pharmacies ask us

Can I use GetPharmacyPOS at my pharmacy today?

Works today

Yes, for the front store only. OTC, health and beauty, gifts and general retail run on the core POS today; the Rx counter does not.

Full answerHide full answer

The core POS that the pharmacy edition is built on already sells in retail stores: products with variations and barcodes, lot numbers and expiry dates, reward points, gift cards, multi-location stock and an online store generated from your catalogue. You can start a front-store trial with it now. Prescription workflows (pickup, counselling, signature, FSA/HSA substantiation) are not part of it yet, so keep using your pharmacy management system and its POS for anything that touches a prescription.

Is GetPharmacyPOS HIPAA compliant?

Not planned

No. We make no HIPAA claim, the software does not handle protected health information, and we will not sign a Business Associate Agreement until the safeguards exist.

Full answerHide full answer

HIPAA applies to how protected health information (PHI) is used, stored and shared. Today the software is a retail POS: it is designed to hold product, stock and sales data, not prescription or patient health data. Before the pharmacy edition handles any PHI we need the technical and administrative safeguards in place and a Business Associate Agreement you can review. The compliance roadmap lists each gate and its honest status.

Does it connect to my pharmacy management system?

Planned

Not yet. A pharmacy-system (PMS) integration is planned; which systems come first depends on what waitlist pharmacies use.

Full answerHide full answer

That is why the waitlist form asks which system you run. Until an integration exists, nothing flows between your PMS and this POS, so it must not be used to ring up prescriptions. When we publish an integration we will name the system, say what data moves in which direction, and document it before anyone is asked to rely on it.

Can I take FSA and HSA cards?

Planned

Planned for US pharmacies, through certified processors only. FSA/HSA acceptance depends on an IIAS-capable setup or your store qualifying under the 90% Rule, both run with your processor and SIGIS.

Full answerHide full answer

IIAS means the POS flags eligible items from the SIGIS Eligible Product List and sends the eligible amount to the processor. That needs certification work with the processor; we will not claim it until it is done. Read our explainer: FSA/HSA cards at the pharmacy counter.

Why is the site a waitlist instead of a sign-up?

Because selling a pharmacy POS that cannot yet do Rx pickup, signature capture or HIPAA handling would be dishonest. The waitlist lets us build the pharmacy edition with real pharmacies.

Full answerHide full answer

The waitlist is free. Joining tells us your market, how many locations you run and which features you need first. In return you get the founding price and early access to test builds of the planned features, with clear notes on what each build can and cannot do.

What do the founding prices cost?

They are indicative: the Front Store plan starts at a per-location monthly price shown in your currency on this page, with Rx Ready and Multi-pharmacy tiers planned. Nothing is sold on this site.

Full answerHide full answer

Switch between USA, UAE and Pakistan above the price cards to see each market's price, set for that market rather than converted. UAE prices include 5% VAT; US prices are before sales tax; Pakistan prices are plus applicable sales tax. The founding rate is held for the first 12 months after launch, confirmed in writing before you pay anything.

Which countries is the pharmacy edition for?

The United States, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan — the three markets the POS family sells in.

Full answerHide full answer

Each market gets its own currency, tax display, receipt layout and payment habits: cards through your processor in all three, Apple Pay in the UAE, JazzCash and Easypaisa in Pakistan as "works with" methods. Pharmacy regulation differs completely between them, which is one more reason the Rx features are planned per market. See Countries.

Can the POS and receipts run in Spanish, Arabic or Urdu?

Works today

Yes. The interface and receipts can run in the shop's language, including right-to-left Arabic and Urdu, and you can edit the translations.

Full answerHide full answer

This site itself is in English with home, waitlist and contact pages in Spanish, Arabic, Urdu, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Tagalog. See Languages for what translates in the software and how custom translations work.

Do I need special hardware?

Works today

No. It runs in a web browser on a PC, tablet or phone, with standard receipt printers, barcode scanners, label printers and cash drawers.

Full answerHide full answer

Card payments go through the processor you choose, on that processor's terminal. Signature pads for Rx pickup are part of the planned features and will be listed when they are supported.

What happens after I join the waitlist?

We reply within 1 business day, ask a few questions about your pharmacy and keep you posted when each planned feature reaches a test build.

Full answerHide full answer

No sales calls about features that do not exist yet. If you want the front store now, we help you start a trial on the core POS. You can leave the waitlist at any time from any email we send.
